Lane Etiquette

Since we are a good size program with 3 to 6 swimmers per lane on a regular basis, it might be time to offer some lane etiquette.

  1. Always brush your teeth before you come to swim practice!!
  2. If you need to rest, then rest in the corner.
  3. When leaving on the interval, give the person ahead of you a 5 second lead (not three seconds and not ten seconds – it must be FIVE).
  4. If you accidentally contact (hit) someone, use good manners and apologize (even if it didn’t hurt you or you feel it was the other person’s fault).
  5. Talk with your lane mates to determine who should go first, and the first person should let the rest of the lane know when they are leaving.
  6. Help each other and enjoy the company of each other, you are part of an incredible group of people.
  7. Brush your teeth!

If you have other lane etiquette suggestions, then please drop me a line.

Other things unique about our program!

Leave when you need to go but be at practice on time. We have a ten minute late policy. If you are ten minutes late then you will be asked not to participate (a warning the first time). Before you leave, it is in your best health interest to do at least a 100 cool down before you hop out of practice – 25's sprint are not considered a cool down.

Coaching the Masters is more of a hobby and meant to be fun for me and you (somewhat – ). Besides paying affordable dues to swim it is requested that you give something back to the sport you love. Giving back can be many different things; from helping put in/ take out lane ropes at practice, to taking pictures of swimmers at summer league swim meets. Get involved – just a little!

Out of Town

Volunteer Coaches (Supreme Dictators) are needed over the next month for the program to continue. College swim meets will be taking me away from Omaha on two occasions. The first round is February 21 to February 24. The second round is March 12 through March 17. If you would like to feel the power, then let me know which day works best for you.

Yes, we will have practice at the normal times on Valentine Day and President’s Day

Swim Suits

Erin Sullivan will be ordering swim suits soon. Women's suits for $30 (TYR lycra, Speedo Lycra, or Speedo Polyester). Men's suits for $12 (briefs) or $18 (jammers – the long suits). Erin has a sign up sheet at practice. You must bring a check made out to 'Erin Sullivan' when you sign up for a swim suit with the size you want. You only have until next week to order, so act soon.
