August 2008 NewsletterFun -- Fitness -- FriendsNo PracticeNo practice will be held on Friday, July 4th. Yes, we will have practice on Saturday, July 5th. No PracticeDuring Labor Day weekend, no practice will be held on Saturday, August 30 and Monday, September 1. Enjoy the three day weekend!! Saturday, August 23 – three requestsA volunteer coach is needed for Saturday, August 23. This is the day of the Women's Triathlon. Since I am the event director, I need to be at the Triathlon bright and early. It is exciting to see so many women from our Masters program participating in the event. I look forward to seeing your smiling faces. If you haven't entered the event but still want to, then just show up at Wehrspahn Lake at 7:30 am to register. If you are a guy and want to be involved in the event, you can’t participate but you can volunteer. Guys are the only ones allowed to volunteer. It is easy -- just smile and give encouragement. We could really use your help! Let me know if you can volunteer or if you want to participate. Lane Ropes at the Pool: The task of putting in the lane ropes and taking out the lane ropes is the responsibility of the swimmers in our program. It seems just a few people have been consistently involved in this process. Each of you has the skill set needed to perform this task. So the request is for you to think of a day that you can commit. It is requested that you commit to a day of the week to take care of the lane ropes (you can always help with other days if you want too). New Boat Ramp: As you already know CSM has a new way of making the pool more accessible to all populations – which is a very good thing. It is a little more difficult to take of the water (and return into the water). It is the responsibility of the coach to perform this task, but it actually takes three people. So if you are standing around and seeing the coach struggle then give a hand to help remove the new boat ramp. ButternutMain Entry: but·ter·nut - Function: noun: A swimmer who swims more than 500 yards of butterfly who does so legally and has a witness to the event -- also known as crazy or disturbed. If you would like to be part of the distinguished sub set of society (like the Patterson family of Tim and Steph) then check out the web site http://azlmsc.blogspot.com/2006/10/butternut.html. Thank YouA very big thanks goes to those who took over the program as I enjoyed an incredible vacation; THANK YOU – Erin Sullivan, Mary Pat Moeller, Molly Romero, John Hartigan, Pat Prince, Janet Culjat, Amber Sky Tucker, Brinker Harding, Lori Cassling, Ed Willis, and Pam Rodino.
